What gets configured in a Windows Server environment

A Windows Server deployment is more than installing an OS from an ISO. Choosing the right roles and features, setting the update policy, securing remote access and establishing the backup plan all belong to the work completed before handover.

We recommend against leaving Remote Desktop exposed to the internet. A directly reachable RDP port attracts constant automated password-guessing traffic. Instead we build a VPN tunnel terminated on pfSense and make RDP reachable only from inside it.

On the backup side, Veeam's image-based approach is especially valuable in Windows environments. Because the whole server — roles, registry, configuration and data — is captured as one consistent image, a disaster scenario means bringing it back as it was rather than rebuilding and reconfiguring.

  • Roles and features chosen to match your workload
  • RDP access placed behind a VPN tunnel
  • Update policy tied to planned windows
  • Image-based backup established
  • Service and resource monitoring configured in Zabbix

Features

Common use cases

  • Active Directory

Central user and permission management, letting you govern access policies from one place across branches and remote staff.

  • IIS and .NET applications

For enterprise .NET applications, application pools, certificates and site configuration are set up as part of deployment.

  • SQL Server hosting

SQL Server licensing is provided under the same SPLA; we recommend placing the database on a separate server.

  • File and print services

Shared folders, permissions and shadow copy configuration prepared for enterprise file sharing.

  • Remote Desktop Services

For multi-user remote desktop scenarios, session configuration and licensing are planned together.

  • Baseline hardening

Disabling unnecessary services, update policy and access restrictions are applied before handover.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which Windows Server version is installed?

We install the current version supported by your application. If a legacy application depends on a specific version, we discuss that before deployment and review its support status with you.

Will I have administrator rights on the server?

Yes. The server is yours and administrator access is handed over to you. What we take on is the infrastructure, security layer, backup and monitoring.

Who applies updates?

We set the update policy together. If you leave management to us, security patches are applied in planned windows with a snapshot taken beforehand; if you manage it yourself, you decide the timing.

Let's plan your infrastructure together

Tell us what you need and we prepare a configuration and pricing specific to you. We don't sell fixed packages; we build the deployment, licensing and backup plan with you.
